Do you have to be in really good shape before you join?

Fit Camp does recommend that you have been "active" over the last 2-3 months before partaking in this fitness camp. "Active" meaning you have been engaging in light-moderate exercise 3/week for at least 30 minutes. For example : walking or biking. You must also not be suffering from any impairments or disabilities that could limit you from doing Fit Camp. Due to the fact that you will be partaking in a variety of activities it is best that you have this exercise history under your belt. (Personal Fitness Training with Wendy may be more appropriate for some people just starting out)That being said -you do not have to be super fit to join! No one will be asked to complete more than they are capable of doing safely. Fit Camp will leave you in better shape than when you joined! All fitness levels are welcome and accommodated for at Fit Camp!

What does a typical session include?

Each session starts with a dynamic motivating warm up, followed by the main activity for that session (metabolic conditioning integrated with strength training) followed by a cool down and stretch to finish! Each day varies and you will be introduced to a number of different activities. You need to be open to trying anything!! Sessions are 60-75 min long. Time will be dedicated to discuss nutritional and other wellness topics. (10-15 min at the end of some sessions- only during full Fit Camps). Handouts/E-mails will be provided to guide you in making healthy food choices and lifestyle decisions. (Only during Full Fit Camps).

I do not like to run. Does this program involve a lot of running?

The program varies and includes some jogging. Research shows that interval based training is the best route for fat loss- Fit Camp incorporates many intervals! However, the program is as challenging as you want it to be. I encourage everyone to go at his or her own pace! Some people walk, jog or run- its up to you! As long as you move! Please note: If you cannot walk for 30-45 minutes without being fatigued and experience lower foot pain or likewise- Fit Camp may not be for you at this point.

What kind of activities will I be expected to do?

Some of the Activities will be:

Variety is the key!!

Resistance Training with Medicine Balls, Free Weights, Kettlebells, Body Bars, Super bands, Stability Balls and more...

Metabolic Conditioning Training will use our Track, Steps, Skipping Ropes, BOSU Ball, Trampolines, Rowers, Spin bikes, Outdoor Trails, Cardio- boxing and more...

Core Training is integrated into to each FIt Camp session!

Yoga, Pilates, and Yogalates, will be added to give you a well rounded balanced training session!! The sky is the limit! If you are NOT open-minded and flexible- Fit Camp may not be for you- try Pilates or Yoga classes instead!

How many people are in each Fit Camp?

Fit Camp is purposely held in a smaller group/team atmosphere. (8-20 per group max approx.). That way you will get individual attention, along with group support and begin to build some rapport with other group members.

Are the classes always held indoors?

No. Fit Camp will also include outdoor fitness exercise, as much as possible and only on the mild days! Be prepared to go outside each workout! For January Fit Camps- All workouts will be indoors! In the Spring/Summer and Fall -Fit Camp will be using outdoor trails in the woods and outdoor tracks. Indoor sessions will take advantage of our wide-open field house ( Gagetown Fitness Center Location). Sessions will not usually be held in the Cardio room or Weight room!! Think outside the box!! Fun! Sessions may be cancelled due to weather or lack of facility (Gagetown Fitness Center -only happens when facility has full bookings for military requirements/or emergencies). Any sessions cancelled will be added on at the end of that current Fit Camp if possible!
